Frequently Asked Questions
Questions about engine
Can I make traditional 2D adventure games with Dage
Dage is a 3D engine. However there are possibilities to create 2D sprites, coding full adventure game by hand is time-consuming, but should be possible. You could use Adventure Game Studio or Wintermute Engine instead.
What are the hardware specs for Dage Engine
See system requirements for more info.
Is Dage available for Mac?
Dage is designed to be multiplatform. Windows and Linux versions are out and there is a plan to implement also Mac versions of the engine. This all means you could basically develop a game with one platform and run it with same resource files in all Windows, Mac and Linux.
Where can I see some games made with Dage to see what it can do?
To our knowledge one short game I Was a Vegas Showgirl has been released that show complete, but short, game made in Dage. Most features are visible in the Demo that comes along with latest Dage Engine build.
Is Dage freeware? What's the license?
Dage is free for commercial and non-commercial use. However, it is not open source. If you wish to make money from your game (either shareware or commercial) you should contact the developer, as there are issues you need to concern.
When will the next version of Dage be released?
Soon. Really, Dage is constantly developed, so new features are added sometimes biweekly, but sometimes it can take up to month to release a new version.
What did you use to make Dage?
The Windows version is made with Delphi. Linux version is made with Lazarus. Both versions use GLScene, Lua, and Newton Game Dynamics.
Can I have the source code?
Sorry, Dage is not open-source. If the day comes, I don't want to continue developing Dage, I will release it as an open source.
